The Joint Data Center on Forced Displacement (JDC) in collaboration with the Expert Group on Refugee, IDP and Statelessness Statistics (EGRISS), the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) will hold a session during the United Nations World Data Forum 2023.

On the 24th January 2023, Björn Gillsäter, Head of the World Bank-UNHCR Joint Data Center on Forced Displacement (JDC), participated in the session “Strengthening Migration Data For the Follow-up Review of Global Agreement” as part of the 3rd International Forum on Migration Statistics (IFMS 2023).

There has been a significant increase in the evidence base on the socioeconomic situation of those forcibly displaced and their host communities over the past decade. With the number of forcibly displaced now surpassing 100 million and with the most recent displacement crisis following the war in Ukraine, it has become ever more important to distill insights and lessons from displacement contexts around the world, for improved and evidence-driven responses.

JDC Seminar | New and Upcoming KoboToolbox Features

The Center held a virtual seminar on New and Upcoming KoboToolbox Features on May 26th at 15:00 CET (09:00 EST). The goal of the seminar is for practitioners to learn about new and upcoming features developed by Kobo Inc, the non-profit behind KoboToolbox. JDC and UNHCR have partnered with Kobo Inc. to create additional features and enhancements for the benefit of organizations working to assist and protect displaced populations.

From March 7th -15, The Center participated in the Fragility Forum hosted by the World Bank. The Center has produced a podcast conversation on the “The next ten years of the Mosaic Effect: minimizing disclosure risk from multiple sources in an ever-growing data ecosystem” as part of the Fragility Forum.
